This obtuse plant gives life to the dunes.... I imagine this is what the rabbits once destroyed which thus covered the telegraph station in sand when the dunes became unstable. It's somewhat ironic that Europeans made an impression on this landscape with their stone buildings and wooden jetty which was then destroyed by their own careless introduction of the Rabbit..... And even more ironic that now the rabbit is kept at bay, that this beautiful landscape has now reclaimed it's own awesome presence.
